The Grants for Open Science in Catalonia have supported projects and initiatives that contribute to consolidating more transparent, accessible and collaborative research since 2026. Promoted within the framework of Catalonia’s policies to foster open science, these grants support actions aimed at facilitating the sharing and reuse of scientífic knowledge, as well as strengthening public participation in research processes.

The call funds initiatives aimed at opening up and reusing research outputs, projects related to the management and sharing of research data, open science training and capacity-building activities, initiatives to engage the research community, and citizen science projects. The aim is to encourage the adoption of open practices that enhance the quality, transparency and societal impact of research.

These grants are part of the implementation of the Catalan Open Science Strategy, which promotes open access to knowledge, the reuse of research data and resources, and collaboration among the various stakeholders in the research and innovation system. The funded initiatives must contribute to generating a positive and lasting impact on the transition towards a more open and responsible research model aligned with the FAIR principles.
